Hey All
Wonder if anyone can advise, we are returning to Canada later this year and have a question about goods to follow.
Originally all our property was listed on a Goods to Follow list which I presented when I landed in Canada as an Immigrant with PR. This all went very smoothly.
We then brought all our property back to the UK when we returned.
Obviously, when we return to Canada we will have Goods to Follow ( have been out of country, living with my Canadian partner) for 4 years.
Questions are as follow:
1) Is it best for me as a PR or my Partner as a Canadian to have a Goods to Follow list?
2) Are we likely to face any penalties or taxes for this?
Many thanks, in advance.
Gosh - just realised this is post 333, 3 is my lucky number ... 3 times the luck

Would your PR still be valid if you only lived in Canada for 1 year?

Yeah, my Partner (Canadian Citizen) had to move back to the UK (to be with elderly mother and job) and I was accompanying him. These days are counted as far as PR goes, but not citizenship !

I'm not 100% sure on this so don't take my word to heart but it may be worth re-reading the papers just to make sure as it could get you the citizenship much faster.

Hi
No, citizenship requires physical residency in Canada, except for working abroad for Federal/Provincial Gov't or Canadian military.
If I remember correctly I thought that days outside of Canada could count if it falls under an issue of "humanitary grounds" (maybe elderly care counts).

Thought as much - but I am happy as it stands, return and work up my days for Citizenship.
I feel so excited about coming back - not sleeping well at nights !
