Hi
could anyone send me or let me know what the Canadian Resume format is?
A template would be good and some advice in filling one in.

Thanks for your help

Thanks for the superfast response. It is really appreciated.

I have read through the article and it shows how different the process is. There is also masses of useful links in the article that will take a little time to fully explore but I'm sure will be worth it for the valuable information.

Thanks again

I've just completed "canadianising" my CV into a Resume and found Susan Irelands website invaluable. Just google susanireland or follow the link in the Wiki page on this forum.

Good Luck!

Look for your local job skill soffice & sign up - it is free. There is a lot more to getting a job here than just a resume! You WILL have to start at the bottom...& I mean the bottom to get that all important canadian experience.

A lot depends on your skill set, the demand and how well you present your case to a potential employer.

I have met people who have come over and had to work flipping burgers for minimum wage and others who have walked into a more senior post than they had in the UK.

One size resume does not fit all and pay close attention to spelling & grammar. In some instances something as simple as spelling mistakes can get a resume rejected.

A week today it will be the moment, elf nach elf am elfte elfte, when the preparations for Fassenacht start up in the town I'm in at present. An occasion for debauchery and public drunkenness carried off with the spirit only the Germans quite can get away with. Not to be missed.

Sorry Novo Castrian just couldn't find one for debauchery and drunkenness, even of the Teutonic variety

Maybe, but not necessarily ..... I am paid at the top increment for my job. I just had to provide evidence of my experience in the UK.

Good for you, the vast majority will have to start at a lower level until they have that all important Canadian experience. I have seen it in Ontario where for every advertised position there were 100's of applicants many with foreign credentials that were well above the level required. Here in Alberta despite the boom if your up against an applicant with Canadian experience and you only possess UK, you will end up disappointed.
The exception to this would be intra company transfers and where they are desperate to fill positions.
People who come here green on PR should not expect to start up here where they left off in the UK.
