ok everyone...as promised (mostly to myself!), here's what happened with our application.
first of all the bg, for those of you with normal memories (cuz I
hardly ever post):
I'm Cdn. My (now ex, thanks to struggling with long distance
relationship for over 2 years) bf is applying from South Africa as a
Self-Employed. His file wound up in London thanks to the USA being a paranoid bunch and not giving him a visa to enter their precious country for when his FIRST interview was scheduled. (we lost 2 years of precious time AND our relationship thanks to this particular step in his process). He is an IRPA Transition applicant, so was going to have two chances to pass, under each set of rules.
Anyhoo, he just had his interview in London recently. You'll all be
interested to know that I'm personally someone who is pretty stable physically, but I swear to god that when he walked out of the office and told me he passed, that is the absolute closest I've EVER come to fainting right there off my feet (I met him there just for the honour of sitting in the waiting room freaking out while he was being interviewed...).
Anyway, the interview was short and sweet, about 1/2 hour in length. The interviewer was nice, friendly and relaxed and really just wanted to know if he fit the definition of a Self-Employed (he does). Then she wanted to know about his military service, then she wanted to know how much landing funds he had and gave him his medical forms right then and there (YIPPEEEEEEEEE).
She didn't seem to need to look at anything he had with him, which frustrated him a tad cuz he'd worked so hard on his file! har!
There, I think that's the majority of the details...
thank god the waiting and the not knowing is over...
