Default Renting Property

We are hoping to move to Saskatoon in the near future. Can anyone give me any websites that have houses (4 bedrooms) for rent, there doesnt seem to be a lot of them around with available properties.

Hi,

If you don't get a response from anyone on here try getting a recommendation from a realtor in the area you are thinking of. Look for good signs - a decent list of properties for sale, good web presence, maybe some rentals too (tho maybe not so likely) and try telephoning to speak to someone about the local market conditions, your plans etc.

If you like what you hear, in terms of personality and service, knowledge etc, ask them if they can help with intial renting of a home before you start looking. They should ask about amenities and location you are after and take it from there. Most will appear to eat out of your hand and offer you far more service than an estate agent in the UK would. You'll also be able to get good guidance for a local mortgage broker, home inspector, lawyer, utilities and other services from a good experienced professional realtor. They should also offer to show you around the area, point out good bad and ugly neighbourhoods, advise regarding schools, transit routes, etc, as a good realtor here seems to be more like a relocation adviser or at least half-and-half between that and realtor.

Good luck. If in doubt just pick up the phone and have a yak.

Rich.

Try http://homes.canada.com/saskatoon/browsecategory failing that, type saskatoon rental homes into google search and that will find you some sites. Good luck.

You could take a look at these:

http://homes.canada.com/saskatoon/re...x?cls_id=39663

They are townhouses for rent in the paper. The reason why I chose townhouses is because you can rely on them to be new and almost certainly in a decent part of town.

Here are houses for rent unfurnished.

These are always a bit "iffy" unless you know the city, which I don't. You could end up somewhere that you would not want to live. The more expensive the rent, the more likely it is to be in a decent area, but you can't always rely on that. And you can't always rely on realtors 100% to tell you about a scuzzy area because they might just be interested in renting the house out. Perhaps someone can recommend a realtor who would not do that.

For someone who will tell you that a spade is a spade then contact Mark Caddy at http://www.markthebrit.com/ I was completely unable to get anyone to tell me what the score was with certain areas in Saskatoon but Mark was straight enough to tell. It's unlikely any other realtor will spill the beans as all they want is a sale. When I emailled him from the UK, he was kind enough to send a comprehensive map, house details, school details etc etc. He was terribly helpful. He drove me around Saskatoon and showed me all the nice and not so nice areas, where the prostitutes live etc etc....

He will be able to help with rentals. I don't think he does any but will know someone who does. There are a couple of big rental companies I just can't remember their names! Sorry about that!

My other realtor was a chap called Larry Gingerich or Ginger as he likes to be called (I know, i know but he doesn't know what cockney rhyming slang is ) and he proved to be reliable and pleasant and I would probably use him again if I was in Saskatoon. http://www.realtyexecutivessaskatoon.com/
