Renting in Edmonton
#1
When I look for 4 bed houses in Edmonton on the realtor.ca website there never seem to be any. Is that correct? If there are houses to rent there I must be doing something wrong when searching.
Are there any good websites with listings of houses to rent in Edmonton (and St Albert). Suggestions much appreciated thanks.

Hi,
You could try Kijiji for Edmonton Rentals.
http://edmonton.kijiji.ca/f-housing-...l-W0QQCatIdZ43
We live in St Albert and found our rental in the St Albert Gazette (classifieds)
http://www.stalbertgazette.com/start/intro.htm
Hope that helps.

Rentals do not show on realtor.ca because this is the site for multiple listings of houses for sale. Most realtors do not handle rentals. You could try craigslist.ca, click on Edmonton then go to the rental section. If you can get The Edmonton Journal on line, you can also check rental listings there. The rental situation in Edmonton is still tight so you'll probably have to do quite a bit of digging. A word of warning - in this market, there are lots of scams around so don't hand over any money and don't sign anything till you're sure that the "landlord" actually owns the property. Be sure also to do an "entry damage inspection" accompanied by the landlord and get a list of all damage signed by both you and the landlord before you sign a lease or hand over a damage deposit (usually the same amount as a month's rent). You might even take a digital camera with you to record the state of the property before you rent it. Without an entry damage report, you can be swindled out of your damage deposit and even more by a landlord claiming you've done all kinds of damage to the property.
Good luck.

I had the same issue as you with regards to Realtor.ca, not sure why rentals are not showing.
I started looking on www.rentedmonton.com

The realtor website has on option to select properties for sale or rent (like the old mls website). Maybe estate agents in Edmonton just don't bother with rentals. I just wondered if anyone had searched for rentals and found any.
