I am looking for information on renting in Vancouver.

Is a 12 month lease alway the case. I have no problem with
that but If I dont find work within 6 months, I dont think I could fulfil the lease.

Can you you give 1 months notice to exit the lease or do you have to find someone to sublet the lease to.

If you leave what is the penalty. Is is 1 months rent or more to be forfeited.

Can you get a shorter term lease - say 6 months.

Finally does anyone know what are good areas to rent in.

I believe that west & downtown is expensive - so I would be looking in North & East. Can anyoner recommend areas to look in & ones to avoid.

Lastly I know I am pushing it but has anyone got an idea how much a room in a shared house or apt.
