We are perm residents. My UK passport will need renewing next year.
Anybody know how long this takes.
Where do we send this to?
is there a website to help?
Thank you

* Applicants born on or before 2 September 1929 are eligible for free standard 32 page ten year passports. Fast Track and Premium services will attract the difference between the standard passport fee of £72 and the fee charged for the enhanced service provided at the counter (for example, usual Fast Track fee is £97 less standard fee of £72 - fee payable £25.00).
How generous!
Unlikely someone aged 79+ is going to need a passport good for ten years.

Since I also have to renew my passport soon, I had a couple of questions for those who've done it:
1. How do I send it to Ottawa? Normal mail, registered, courier or whatever?
2. Do I just need to send the old passport, photos and form, or do I have to send in a birth certificate too? The notes aren't particularly clear about precisely what's required.
I'm sure I didn't have to send any other documents last time I renewed it in the UK, but they change things so often I've no idea whether that's still the case.

The note (11) clearly states that "Documents are not normally needed if you are renewing a recently expired, unrestricted British passport ....(blah-blah-blah)...and all other details are the same."
(sorry, was not able to copy and paste as it's a pdf doc!)
We sent ours registered post and you can watch and make sure it's received and signed for .... and that's probably not completely necessary, but we were a little anxious re timing!

I renewed mine three weeks ago, total time from sending it registered post (next day delivery) to having it back in my grubby hands - 7 days... Thursday to Thursday......
Added - we only sent the form, credit card payment authorisation, expiring passports and photos....
Bear in mind we had about 5 months remaining on ours but needed new ones as we are awaiting the call from CIC for landed status.... Not sure if you need all the other stuff if the passport has expired...
Cheers

. 'Not normally needed'
. It doesn't say in which circumstances something that isn't normally needed might be needed...Thanks for the other info, I'll send it off shortly and hope

We used Walmart on 130th in the SE....They have a creamy white background which was accepted by the BE in Ottawa.... Make sure you ask for UK spec sizes and take the measurements with you. Otherwise they will print Canadian ones which are about 400 times the size (slight exxaguration
)
