I am about to send of my passport to be renewed but does anyone know how picky they are about the photos you send in, I see it has to be on a plain cream background or light grey so I went to two different places to get the photos, london drugs gave me a white background and I noticed when i got home one of the photos is cut pretty far off square and none of them are the same size there is a 4mm difference in heights and widths :S. The photos from sears background turned out a pretty dark grey and 3 mm over the size(maybe i could just trim those ones... I have only ever used the uk photo booths before , are the uk passport fellows very picky about these sort of things?
can anyone recommend a good place to get the passport photos done, or where i should have posted this ?

I just got mine done, make sure you print out the photo requirement page and take it to the place. Don't go to one of those machines, make sure it's an actual person taking it who can print it off on the correct size paper.
I went to Shoppers Drug Mart here in town. Costco also do them, or you could go to a photography shop and pay a bit extra for peace of mind.
Oh yeah, and make sure they don't stamp the back.

London Drugs couldn't do mine, I had to go to a print store to get them done, they had a camera that had a setting to do them.

What's a print store? Also do you know how picky the government are when it comes to the background, it looks like it cant be white but no darker than light grey according to the guidelines.

Unfortunately, such idiots appear to be equally distributed among the obvious choices.
A "print store" is a phrase used by another variety of slack-jawed idiot to mean a photographer's shop e.g. Blacks or Japan Camera in my part (Ontario).

There are dozens of thread on this topic. Almost anywhere can do it if you don't happen to bump into an idiot who doesn't understand the words "I'd like photographs for a UK passport renewal".

Im pretty sure that this happens to Canadians abroad when renewing them. Great emphasis should be placed on the following phrase
I need photos for a UK passport as opposed to Do you do passport photos.
Is the spotty faced yoot in Boots or Dixons just as big of an idiot.
One might think that a logical solution would be to have a world standard passport photo specification but that might be too ****ing easy and why would every country agree to this.

I sent mine with purolator on thursday nightit cost 68 dollars from chilliwack bc and will take 3 business days according to them. It was a pretty good price I thought..
As for the pictures there is a small post office that does passport photos in guildford mall(surrey bc) next to walmart, he has the correct non white background, according to the fellow taking the pictures anyway :S, it looked good me and was the standard 12 dollar price for 2.
