We are hoping to get a property with a bit of acreage,
so should be able to drop a 20' container near the house somewhere - but is this cost efficient?? The way i am thinking is that it will only be one load up in the UK and we can unload from outside our front door at our own speed.
There is nothing you can't buy from eBay

The containers are all treated in the same way as they are all wekded tight, sealed and washed out. Any water you may find inside is from when they wash the insides before renting them. They are all generally in very good condition as they are inspected regularly. If you are in any doubt when you come to load, refuse to load it if there is a hole in it. That way your stuff should be OK. You could always shrink wrap your stuff as well. This is not recommended though if you personal effects are going to be in storage for any reasonable length of time. I did this with all my gear and after 2 years it came out fine. I think I got lucky with it though. Just be a bit canny with the cold as well because we lost a couple of paddling pools due to the fact they fractured in the sub-zero temperatures. We moved our big stuff from the storage company in my mates truck (pick-up). The rest of we took the seats out of our Dodge Caravan and loaded it that way. Piece of cake. As the storage company in Canada were doing a 2/1 deal we had the storage unit for 2 months at the cost of 1. Meant we could take our time.

Hope this helps a bit.
