Hi All
I have just accepted a great opportunity with my company that requires me to relocate to Leduc. (maybe that makes it not so great?
)
I have lived in Calgary for the past 6 years and my only experience of Leduc so far has been a 2 day visit to the office there staying at a hotel near the airport.
Obviously I am doing other research, but having some personal experience always helps. My main concern is, are there any areas I should avoid? It is just me making the move, so I need an area that will be safe for a single woman.
So if there is anyone out there who can advise me of good/bad areas I would appreciate your insight.

Pretty small place, but I remember it flooded awhile back, so out of the flood plain of the lake I guess.

Working in Leduc does allow you live pretty much anywhere in Edmonton though, so dont limit yourself to just Leduc.

Thanks for the replies. I know even less about Edmonton than I do about Leduc.
Thing that appeals about Leduc is having zero commute (currently lucky in Calgary only being 10 minutes away from work)
Good to know there is no real "bad area" as such.

Like i said Leduc is only a 15 minute commute to the south of Edmonton...tons more to do in Edmonton than Leduc..Edmonton is the same as Calgary without the fluff.

I actually really like Calgary, my only experience of Edmonton so far is a couple of trips to West Ed mall. Not really fair to form an opinion of an entire city just on the mall.

yes dont forget you are going the other direction most people commute into Edmonton in the morning and out in the evening you will be doing the opposite.

Edmonton is more of a traditional city than Calgary, imo, i.e. a conurbation. Also looks better, at least during the summer, because it has more trees and the Saskatchewan River is prettier.
More blue collar though, I think because of all the govt. workers up there. Some people have even been known to elect members of the NDP.
Colder during the winter as they don't get chinooks.

Dont forget Deadmonton has the Mall.
Does it sound better if you are driving from Leduc to the mall or the south end of the city?

I have never been to Edmonton. Do you think it is worth a trip?

I never even thought about it being the opposit to the majority, that could defintely work then if I decide to stay long term.
The mall really isn't that special, in fact just annoying when all you want to do is browse the shops! I see me driving back to Calgary more....!
I am not looking forward to my first chinook free winter, other than the fact I should no longer get migraines
