I have never registered a vehicle purchased in NS into my own name - the only things we have registered were vehicles bought in from BC.
I can't find my answer on Service NS website so - can anyone explain what the process is and what docs I need to take along.
I know I need the bill of sale, the certificate of reg that the seller gave me. Is this it? Do I need to take any paperwork relating to the MVI? If so - what and do I need to fill any forms in to take with me?
Thanks in advance :0)

I did this a couple of months ago at the service centre in Dartmouth. I don't recall having to provide evidence of insurance but their website seems to say otherwise. When I went they just printed off a few forms and said 'sign here..' I took all the paper work I had from the car purchase, couple of photo id's and details of the insurer with me - it was all very simple - you'll not go wrong if you take everything with you that might be relevant and just let them sort through it, that's their job.

Sorry misread a bit of your message - yes you will need the MVI. As I said, you don't need to print off any forms before you go because they'll do it all for you in no time.

Is the MVI the number from the sticker or some actual paperwork? We only have the sticker...arghhhhhhhhh!

We were advised by the dealer who sold us the car to register it in both our names
cos if one of us dies
it's a lot of hassle to get the reg docs changed....dont know how true this is...but we did it anyway

Do you know who did the MVI?and get a copy of the certificate. You'd think just the number would be enough

Oh no! That is awful - do you mean the MVI sticker didn't match to the car or the cert of registration didn't match to the car? What did you do?
