Default Recruitment agencies in Canada - help needed

I'm in that boat of needing to get a job offer in order to move from the UK to Canada quickly. I work in I.T.

Does anyone know any reliable agencies or even employers - and can you pass on any advice in how to approach them in order to land interviews?

Hi,
First of all - where are you planning on moving too? Most recruitment agencies will not deal with you if you do not have PR so it is better to go direct to companies.

I found my job through a contact here on BE - he sent me the job link and I applied, 3 months later I arrived I sent in my cv and a cover letter explaining my circumstances and a bit about the ways I could get into Canada (through a TWP etc).

Certain roles in IT do not require an LMO which is how I got here so quick and I got the TWP at POE too.

Hope this is of some help,
Sinead

Just to add to this then if you have a TWP and are looking for a job then people will not touch you without a PR?

No idea I'm afraid but from what I know if you have a TWP and are looking for a new job the new company will have to apply for a new TWP permit for you anyway so they would have to go through the same process for you as they would for someone who didn't have a TWP to being with right? A TWP usually ties you to one employer.

So I got a TWP through my company I work for in the UK. My OH also gets a TWP but she can work for anybody with it.

I think this is normal?

Yes, if your OH has a spousal open work permit (SOWP), she can accept any job with any employer. Recruitment agencies probably would be able to help her to find a job.

I'm sure Sinead's responses to the original poster and you were based on the assumption that the person under discussion in each case was the principal applicant.

If you're asking about someone with an SOWP rather than a standard TWP, it helps if you clarify that.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a TWP?
I will be the principal applicant.

Thanks for your response Sinead.
We are looking toward Ontario.

This is because of the large-scale demand for I.T. which will suit both myself and our children in the longer term.

Hi Stephen

TWP is a Temporary Work Permit.
