You probably never went too far north of Steeles Ave in Pickering. It is mainly rural with massive tracks of farmland in rolling hills. It has become more built up in recent years within easy reach of the 401 and the GO train service.

Yes, true, I tend not to think of that area as Pickering tho, more Durham. You don't have to go to far from the 401 corridor to find rural stuff, but in my mind it isn't GTA.
