Can anyone tell me of their experiences in reclaiming any paye tax before leaving for Canada?

I will be working up to my leave date in Aug.

I understand a P85 form has to be submitted. Can this be done whilst still working though payroll or does it have to be completed after leaving work?

If it can only be submitted after leaving work I will be in Canada before receiving any confirmation on tax returned. Will they send it to Canada or can they sent it via bacs to a UK account?

Won't be a problem paying it by BACS, just keep a UK account open. Notify them of your new address in Canada, or at least get your mail forwarded from the UK for a while. It could take a while to come through.

You need to wait until after you've left your currently employer as you need to submit your P45 (or portions thereof) together with your P85 form.

You can do this from Canada, no problem, and they didn't make us wait that long for the refund either (under two months which isn't bad for the revenue).

They paid direct via BACS to UK accounts we still have active.
