Really silly question - here I go...
.....
Where do I buy a stamp for a letter, how do I know how much it will cost, where do I post it.
Told you it was silly, but I havent seen anything that looks like a post office or a post box.
Sit back and waits for the comic replies I know will come

Canada post (either the website or visiting a post office) will provide all your answers.

Canada Post website (in the personal bit) has a tab that says "FIND A POST OFFICE"
In addition, many convenience stores, greeting card shops, plus shoppers drug mart will sell you books of stamps, just like in the UK.
Also, if you are lucky enough to still have a real door to door mail service in your area you can just do what we do, leave the outgoing mail in the mailbox with some change in a baggy, and have the mail man take care of the rest (change and reciept left the next day) Ill miss that when we inevitably get switched to a communal central box

Yup agree with all the above - the stores that have a po inside will have the logo on the door or window somewhere.
Take in your letter, buy a stamp and then give them your letter to post!
Not as stupid a question as you may think - out here in the sticks we have the mail boxes at the end of the drive that the postie delivers twice a week to and puts the red flag up to show we have mail. In the same vein if we want to post something we leave it in the mailbox and said postie will take it when he/she delivers the mail

Also of you want to post larger things within Canada think about sending them by Greyhound - way cheaper and Greyhound have outlets in loads of stores etc
