Has anyone redirected their post direct from UK to address in Canada ?? If so do you still have the link for it ?

You can pop into the Post Office and ask for the forms to do so. It's not too expensive actually, £31.10 for 3 months, £47.90 for 6 or £71.90 for 12 months.

Hi Gay

We have just arranged to have our post re-directed to my parents' house for a year (so that we can catch all the people/companies we forgot to tell we are moving.) But when I filled in the form there was the option to re-direct to an address abroad. There was a big cost difference, obviously. It cost me about £35 to re-direct for a year in the UK but to re-direct abroad would have been about £70. I just asked for the form at the post office.

Hope all is going well with you.

Lisa

Hey, Gay, we're doing just that now. Seems to work fine and doesn't take more than 3/4 days to get to us in Kelowna - faster than in Milton Keynes!

I had our mail redirect to NS. Here are the costs for internation redirection:

Per surname....

1 month = £14.30
3 months = £31.10
6 months = £47.90

Its actually quite good. All our tight-arsed friends and family send parcels to us at out old UK address knowing that it will get redirected to Canada at the expense of the Royal Mail and they want have to pay international postage! Be warned that it doesn't work if you order things online that will be delivered by UPS or courier companies - it only works with things you send through the Post Office.

I'm pretty sure there's a size limit on parcels that they will direct.

Probably but we've had some reasonable sized stuff turn up so far

You get everything that's addressed to you personally - so you won't get stuff that's addressed to "The Owner" etc.

We redirected our mail to a relative, who sorted through it and mail only what had to be sent to us. After about 1 month nothing decent came as we had told everyone our new address here in Alberta. The rest was junk mail which we did not want redirected.

Yeah we would do that to but as relationships are strained wit my parents and Phil's live 5 hour drive away have got no one to do it for us.

I have to say tho am surprised at how little it actually costs to redirect the mail.

Yep, doesn't cost much, and seems to work pretty well. We had a backlog of mail when we arrived as we'd been on holiday for a few weeks. Now we only get a couple of things a week. I'd recommend the redirection service - means you don't need to rely on anyone else to forward things on and it's pretty cheap.

Didn't think of the idea of getting friends and family to mail stuff to the UK address so it gets redirected and saves them the Air Mail costs. Smart!:D
