Yes but those little rounds just arent bacon somehow. I grill them together with Canadian streaky which is very, very fatty and that somehow gives it a little more flavour.

That is what I have been doing also. All these hams you buy though are already cooked - anyone know where to buy a good raw ham for cooking yourself?

I'm surprised at the question. Aren't both kinds freely available? I thought I'd seen both in Sobeys and Superstore here and SuperC and Loblaws in Quebec as well as in our local meat store.

I buy a "part-cooked" ham from Superstore..... mind you I don't slice and fry it, I bake it in the oven, cut big thick slices off it and have it with parsley sauce.....

Yummy!

I haven't bought any decent ham in 2 years here. I'd like to try one of the larger hams, unsmoked, but am loath to spend money in case its slimey and sweet and nasty. This has been my experience so far with ham. Can anyone recommend a brand or what to look for??

Itsjust not the same, bacon is a cured product where as ham is just ham. I need the fat/rind to go crispy!!

Went to Sobeys (Halifax) and no joy.

The hunt continues..........

I did get a cooked lobster (no pots big enough to cook at home) at 11.99 a lb. 8.99 a lb fresh if anyone is keen, though as other have said you can get direct from the fisherman at 5.99 a lb.

Canadian type bacon is not funny! Several of us in this family like that streaky type stuff all fried up and crispy! I personally don't like back bacon. My husband has a butcher shop and he makes his own English style bacon -- but I still like the crispy kind!!
