Hello,
My name is Pickles and I am a cat. I've been living in the greater Vancouver area now for just over 5 months, originally my owners and I were living in downtown condos, so I didn't get much chance to adventure there.
Two months ago we moved out to the suburbs where everything moves slower and I get to explore of an evening. On a couple of of my excursions now, I have encounterd some strange neighbors. They are bigger than me, with black masks and ringed tales. I was suspect as to their intentions, so I ran home smartly as to avoid any untoward confrontations.
I am curious, have any other recently emmigrated feline folk encoutered this strange creature and if so do they dare venture out after dark, or leave their territory claiming to the safety of daylight.
Any help would be purrr-fect,
Pickles The Cat.

Hi, I`m Alex and my brother is Ollie.
My dad is away from the PC at present, I spotted this thread, so I thought I`d have a turn.
We live in a big house in the woods. We go out on the balcony at night, we see and hear and smell all the creatures of the dark! But we are not allowed to go into the blackness of the woods.
In the morning, oh we have such fun, running madly around the yard, sniffing and investigating the previous nights wild animal movements that passed by the house we live in.
Our Dad calls to us if we go beyond the cleared areas, he says that we are big enough to take on the animals that are not cat-like or are bears.
But we must not go in by day either, in case we get a thorn or something in our paws.
He is so considerate you know!
I nearly forgot to say - We are two 8 month old Chocolate Lab` boys.
We come to our daddy when he calls, not take the message and get back later, like you cats do!
Also we know how to cross the street, dogs are man`s best friend after all!
I want to say that I do not chase after you pet cats. I try to be friendly. But you all seem to want to impersonate arched bridges when ever I want to say hello?
OOOOOPS, my Dad has finished on the thunder bucket, bye bye.

Hello, my name is Tia Ribbon and I am a big fat British Tabby cat - I do not go outisde.......ever! It is just all too scary for me. I have 2 adopted siblings; Socks and Snoopy; they do go out through the day but our mummy calls them in at night-time and she closes a funny little see-thru door so they can't go out again till morning. Mummy tells us that the funny yipping that we hear some nights comes from some big furry animals that look like our dogs and they live in the woods next to our house; but that these animals would just love to make us into their dinner!! :scared:
Poppy, Lily and Daisy (mummy's dogs) are our protectors and keep these other dog-like animals away from the house. We have never seen any of those masked creatures you are talking about though - gee they sound scary! Mummy has told us to stay away from them if we ever see them, as they have very sharp claws and can carry yucky diseases.
We all have a great life out here and we always listen to mummy because she loves us.

my name is (was) Clyde, I was 18 months old, when I was eaten by a coyote 3 weeks ago... maybe I should have stayed in the house as my parents would have preferred, but I loved to be outdoors in the woods, hunting squirrels, mice and moles... now I was hunted myself....I guess that's nature...
as for racoons, I saw them out on the lawn every night digging for grubs, but they didn't bother me as long as I didn't get too close to them.
Just watch the coyotes and the foxes!!!

Ewwwww! Are you serious or having a laugh on this 'pet thread' ?
If Clyde has gone to the Rainbow Bridge then that's really sad
I worry about letting our cat out when we get to Canada as I think he'll end up being lunch too

My name is Max the Balinese Cat. I'm white with a grey mask and grey tips on my paws and ears. My owners are concerned that I might 'disappear' in the snow as I'm a similar colour.
After reading this thread with my owner today, I think I'll stay indoors when I get to Calgary (otherwise I'll have to take kitty tranquilizers to steady one's nerves) :scared:
Meeeeooooooow!!!
Edited - 'cos dumb cat ran across the keyboard!

Hi! My name is Zippy and my best buddy here is Lightning and we would LOVE to go outsize but mommy won't let us because we are bad kitties and jump the fence and leave the back yard. She lets Copper out, but he is older and can't jump much anymore so he gets to have all the fun laying out in the grass and chasing the squirrels. Sometimes these funny looking big cats with masks and ringed tails come look in our back door and we try to attack them, but we just can't get through that glass. They are very big but Lightning says she could kick their butts if she could get out. Mommy says they are raccoons and they could kill us or give us a nasty wound or disease if we could get to them, but I don't really believe her.
Mommy says none of us will get to go out when it gets cold and that funny white stuff is on the ground. She just spoils all our fun.

I'm a very old cat - I'm 17years old now. A few years ago I came from England where my parents had a big garden for me to explore. Then they put me on a plane for a whole day to bring me somewhere with all this cold white stuff on the ground. I hate that white stuff. Sometimes its so deep I cannt walk through it. Then we found out that in Calgary cats are not allowed to go out exploring. If we do we might be kidnapped by someone called "the bye-law officer". I've never seen one but they sound quite scary. I'm only allowed to go out in our garden and my parents have made the garden very secure now that I'm too tired to jump the fences. I keep waiting for the short parents to leave the hole in the fence open - but they never do! I'm not allowed in the garden at night either. The good thing about houses in Calgary is those cat beds in each room where the warm air comes up to keep you cosy. It almost makes up for the white stuff.
