Canada's Boreal Forest.

It's the stuff in green that covers most of Canada.

Glad you are so happy bro. Still set on BC. Sorry to hear about the destructive pine beetle. Surely the other trees are ok?

Good luck!
Hi

Merçi beaucoup for the info re french police. I will look the site up. Sadly I did not know about applying via Quebec. Too late now, already applied. Juliette

Steve
It would be heart breaking to see the tree's destroyed by the pine beetle....we need a really cold spell for about a month maybe that would kill them off.

Snow otters and ice weasels in winter (not a problem if you wear big boots). Not forgetting the western pine beetle which is eating most every tree in BC right as I type.

Come to BC, it's awesome.

Rich.
Proof that the creatures Rich mentions exist.............1. Sasquatch, 2. Tree Octopus 3. Burrowing death lice, 4. Lesser spotted fighting marmot & 5. the fresh water ogopogo

I'm off to find me a Sasquatch

Sorry Rich, touchy subject.

Last September when we made our annual trip out to "The Island" I was absolutely stunned to see how much things had changed and the devastation the Mountain Pine Beetle had caused since our previous trip out in March of 2005.

Dead stands of pine trees all over the place, I couldn't believe the change in what I thought was such a short period of time, but I guess a year and a half is a long time for those little b*st*rds.

Cheers
Steve

You should see it in the BC interior - row on row of green pine. Surrounded by dead trees all brown and red in pockets or what might look like pockets of green or red. It certainly hasn't done all of its damage capability yet.

It may yet become complete barren desert here.

yeah it sad it would be like living in Arizona or somethin' lets hope its not to be......

I honestly believe life has a balance............ lets hope something else is around the corner, a door yet un-opened for the fate of the forest.

That's what I am meaning.

These kinds of stands all the way from Alberta to the coast as we drove. It was stunning to see the change.

It's likely the remaining green is spruce and fir.
