I was wondering whether anyone would be able to help me with the following questions. My situation is as follows-my family and I received our visas in June of this year and plan to move out to Alberta in late Spring next year. However I am planning to visit Alberta in January of 2007 for one week (on my own) for a job interview. My questions are these:
1.Can I visit Canada without taking up my residency? i.e visit as a tourist without going through the immigration process at the airport OR will I be forced to do this because the visa is in my passport?
2.If I am forced to go through the immigration process on this visit will it cause a problem for my family if we don't all go through this at the same time?
3.If I go through the immigration process at the airport what proof of funds docmentation is required (bearing in mind I haven't sold my house and that provides the funds we are taking).
Hoping that someone can help me.
Regards
Alex

I don't think you have a problem, we are making a trip this December for 2 weeks but we are not planning to land even though we have the visas.
As far as i am aware so long as you eventually land before they expire there isn't an issue.

As Printer said, you don't have to "land", but you can if you want. Your family can land after you, but the principal applicant (I presume that's you?) must land first or at the same time.
And yes, you must all land before your visas expire, which is normally one year after your medicals.
