Question about plumbers tools.
I know that my copper pipe cutters and benders won't work in Canada.
But will my Rothenberger blow torch fit gas bottles in Canada. Cheers. |

Really ? I would have thought there was no issue with pipe bender and cutters. It's 1/2" and 3/4" imperial
No clue on the blow touch The blow touch typo raises a quite separate issue. |

I'm glad you posted that. I've been scratching my head trying to work out why a pipe cutter or pipe bender wouldn't work just as well in Canada.

The Canadian copper pipe is thicker then the UK's. The cutters won't even go on the pipe.
How thick is copper pipe in the UK then? |

Reno'd 10 properties in UK, construction, electrics, plumbing, roofing the works and done 2 here in Canada - I've not really found too much difference in reality. I would have no hesitation in saying chance the cutters and pipe bender above any other tool. Where did you find the info to say that copper piping is different? Other than imperial sizing (makes no difference to uk metric tools) Not arguing - just interested. |

Ah now it's so much more clear (not to me!)
 Although it's not as if pipe sizes were all that important to me. Honest. |

Having wasted far too much time trying to adapt Euro tools/appliances/you-name-it, my-ex-tried-it, to Canadian norms, I'd advise that even if one "can", one may then encounter compliance with Norms issues .. (+1 on the cutting tool question bemusement)... |

What if they were...... electric? The pipe threader for the Ridgid Pipe Vice, for instance can be manual or electric and I believe there are electric benders. I've never seen an electric pipe cutter, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.
Pipe cutters and bender are adjustable, so cannot figure out the problem. If the pipe wall is thicker, it just takes a bit longer and a few more turns to cut the pipe, whether you were using a manual or electric tool. I brought my hammers from the UK and they worked fine on Canadian nails, even though they were thicker than UK ones. |
