Default question about Nintendo Wii

Would a Nintendo Wii bought in Canada work in the Uk ?
I know it would need an new adaptor but I could get one of these from the UK.
I was wondering more about the input to the TV. Would I need a new lead there or even with a new lead, would it not work ?

I asked in Future Shop but they had no idea.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

The console would work, game bought in the UK wouldn't. I believe.

In North America we use NTSC, but in the UK we use PAL. Also the games are region locked. Also the power in north Americal is at 110 vinstead of 230v

Most modern UK TVs can display NTSC.

If you wanted to use a Wii bought in Canada in the UK, you would first have to make sure that the power supply is supports 110 to 230 (if not you would have to buy a new power supply).

Next you would have to make sure that your TV supports the NTSC standard.

Finally you would have to buy all your games from North America. This is not a big thing as most games can be bought online fairly cheaply.

If you plan to buy games in the UK, then you would need a UK Wii.

There is an article in the Wiki about compatability of electrical goods - if you haven't already read it, might be an idea to have a look?

Welcome to the forum btw.

Yes, ours works fine, but you need a transformer. I don't think you can use games bought here though.
