Question Question about financial services qualifications

Hi there, I've just joined. I also have financial services qualifications (CeMAP, AdvCeMAP, CeFA.... - equivalent of FPC, etc). My understanding is that you'd have to sit / start again by taking the Canadian equivalents. Also, again from what I can gather, these sorts of occupations (mortgage adviser, financial adviser and similar) don't appear to be on the priority list. I suppose, as far as I can see, the only options appear to be a job offer (paid as opposed to commission-only) or entry via Quebec.

You are right, you would have to qualify in Canada, you would need a job offer, which would be unlikely without the qualification and we are awash with 'financial advisers' here trying to sell one financial product or another. It would also have as you say to be salaried not commision remuneration.

Might be worth a trip to Canada to meet a few people, if there is a trade fair or conference, that would be a great place to meet lots of people. You never know unless you try.

You may be able to sit the exams as a visitor or come on a study permit. There may be a distance ed course you could take from the UK and sit the exam in Canada. All worth looking into.

You should also start your own thread for a new topic. You would likely get more responses and does not hijack another thread.

God luck with your adventure to Canada.
