Does anyone have any ideas as to the costs of going this route please, by the cheapest cheap (steerage) class...

x2 Adults & x2 Dogs

Also the best place to book your travel or does it have to be with Cunard directly.

Many Thanks..

We booked directly with Cunard: because we were able to plan in advance we watched their site for the first day that our voyage became bookable (this was just under a year in advance, I think) and picked a nice balcony cabin at the early bird price, which was almost half of the standard list price I seem to recall, I'm not sure how long these last.

If your timelines are shorter, you may well do better through some other travel agency?

You'll have to book the dogs via Cunard directly (based in California) you will need to speak to he pet booking department - the summer is usually the busiest time and I think there is only 12 spaces available on any one crossing.

We booked through Discount Cruises USA and got it for about 600 GBP each. The cat was about 300 dollars.

You can go for an interior room (without window) in the Britannia class. We booked a upgraded room with a larger balcony on the 4th level - I think it was a Britannia Premium room.

The bars and entertainment areas are on the 2nd level and the 24 hour restaurants and winter garden are on the 7th (same level as the walk round deck)

The pets I recall were on the 12th floor on the starboard side.

Sorry about all the questions but really trying to reassure my husband that this is do-able!
We booked a cab online on the QM2 from Brooklyn to La Guardia Airport - it was Hertz rental and from there we drove upstate. It took us 8 hours to get to Niagara Falls with plenty of stops on the way.

The drive was very nice indeed - didn't feel like we were on major highways - the roads are tolled there.

Westend is correct.......we,ve just booked our dog on for next year.

There are 12 kennels but we've had to book 2 large lower kennels cos our dog was on the size limits for just one kennel., and I dont consider our dog to be big. When I spoke to the states last night I asked if ours was the only dog on this trip so far and she said including ours there where already three. These kennels fill up fast so I wouldn't leave it too long before booking.

Its more expensive with the xch rate being so crap but theres nothing we could do about that...one large kennel is $500 dollars........so thats $1000 dollars for us at a tourist xch rate via our tour operator......There’s probably ways of saving a few quid but I didn't have time to look into it. I think the smaller upper kennels were $300.

For a bit of info I rang cunard uk this morning and asked about this kennel booking system. They explained that it was nothing to do with them anymore and it was now classified as service offered from the states which they allowed on thier ship.

Its not really a problem and its very easy to do. Just make sure you measure your dog correctly as they can refuse your dog on if they consider it will not be comfortable for the journey. I think I read somewhere defra are on board when you arrive to check this out.

If you want to check kennel availability there’s a free phone number cunard have set up....its 0808 2343096......ring after 2pm uk time.

Hope this helps
