Well our stuff is now on the boat , just wanted to say how great PSS were this end, packed up the entire house by the end of day 1, 150 packages/boxes all wrapped and boxed etc

The 2 guys were really friendly and professional and got on with the job. By 2pm the next day the container was away

Would not hesitate in recommending them for a quote if you are looking at shipping options etc, they were the cheapest by far for 20 ft sole container to Halifax £3300.

Hopefully everything all arrives the other end ok and gets delivered within reasonable time, it is due 16th June.

I will post an update here to let you know how it ends up

We are now with family for last 7 nights and just getting last things sorted, good to follow lists etc tomorrow!

Hi was that for the full packing service? only thats what i need to get sorted and was quoted £3995 for a 20ft container so far. was PSS the name of the company?

Yes, it was full packing, door to door service within 30 km delivery of Halifax, they packed everything really well, didnt skimp on packaging, tissue, bubble wrap etc.

We are due to move with PSS on the 11th n 12th of June. Just wondered did you do the goods to follow list or is it done when the romovers are packing?

Also, the insurance list did you put actual price or best gestimate, and if i may be a bit cheeky, how much was the shipping insurance, roughly?

I see the ETA is the 16th, when did it depart from your home?

Jim- We did a rough estimate of some of our goods not all, we paid 2.5% insurance and insured for about 10k we didnt cover everything

The packers give you a list but you need to add the value in Cad $ so I am going to use their list to do a new one with the value etc

We also used PSS who were very good, i used their packing list to type up a goods to follow list and the insurance list for the values. Printed off 2 copies plus copies of accompanying goods - one for us the other for customs who were very pleased.
The office for clearing your goods in Halifax is minutes from the ferry terminal, so if you don't want to drive into Halifax you can park on the Dartmouth side at Aldernay landing.

Hi Nikkie, I have been following your posts for quite some time now, you are on the last leg of the start of the big adventure enjoy the last few days with family but get ready for the off when you get here you need to hit the ground running, The first few weeks will be a blur, we found it helped to write a to do list and modify it as we went along, a white board on the fridge works well as well. If you need any help when you get here give us a ring, we will be ready to help wherever we can, (PM for phone number).

Bring a camera, and record the first few weeks for prosperity, we found this helped when looking at 30 houses in the first week as well.

Good luck at the start of your adventure, most of all enjoy it, its been hard getting this far its all down hill now.
