PS3s and DVDs compatibility question
Hi
Our PS3 has broken and hubby wants a new one. If he buys one here do they work over there? I know they have some sort of region code (or whatever it is attached to them) and you are only allowed to change them once is it?
If he buys a new one here will it work over there?
Or would we be better waiting til we get over there?
Saying that if we wait to buy a Canadian one will our DVDs/blurays that we already have work out there on a new one?
Solutions anyone? Can't see the only answer being to buy a new british one and then a new Canadian one? Hope not anyway - we have enough gadgets already!
Thanks

Thanks - so would you have to just change regions when you got there and then use your games and blu rays as normal? (all of our Blu rays have been bought over here)

Re: PS3s and DVDs compatibility question
As has been said, PS3 games are will work in both a UK and North American PS3 games console as the games are region free
The Bluray / DVD player is region locked and cannot be changed. This means that your UK movies will not work on a North American PS3.
Also if you bring your UK PS3, you will not be able to play any Noth American movies that you buy on it.
Solutions?
buy a UK PS3 then Buy a multi regional Bluray play when you get here.
Buy a US PS3 and buy a multiregional bluray player at the same time for use before and after you get here. Then make sure any future bluray discs you buy are region free.

If you bought a new on in the UK, you'd bring it over, buy a new power cable or use an adapter, plug it in and play. You don't change region as it's already open for games. Your DVD's will work but you'll not be able to use North American ones in it.

Hello, we bought our PS3 over and all we had to do was put a plug adaptor on for the power and then remove the hard drive( blue screw under the hard drive) then put it straight back in and the PS3 worked and still is

Re: PS3s and DVDs compatibility question
So any suggestions on why my son's PS3 works on the old small flat screen we brought with us from the UK but doesn't work on any of the TV's over here? Do we need to do anything to make it work? Thanks

Re: PS3s and DVDs compatibility question
Put it on Ebay. I got £80 for mine then put it toward a new one.
