many thanks julieNot sure about the DVD player ,although the cheaper ones sold in Canada play UK discs (region 1?). My sons PS2 wouldn't play so we have sold discs etc.

many thanks julieI am not an expert, but...
I believe that your DVD player may work in Canada if it is able to run on 110 volts. Also, if you purchase a fairly modern TV then you should have no problems in getting it to accept UK PAL instead of NTSC from the DVD player(but I would still check with the retailer before buying as there are slight differences between European PAL and UK PAL).
However all that said, you should be able to purchase a DVD player in Canada and get it modified to play region 2 (UK). I have done this in UK to play region 1 (US and Canada) and see no reason why you shouldn't be able to do the same in Canada...
All best

many thanks julieAs mentioned, some TVs sold in Canada will accept a PAL signal. There are Toshiba and Sony model ranges that do this but it's not mentioned in the specs. I brought over a Toshiba multi-region DVD player from the UK with 110-230 volts input and component video output and it works perfectly with one of these TVs. You might also be able to get a modified DVD player here but I don't know much about that.

Everything will work if you buy and connect them to a transformer. The only thing is that you won't be able to watch normal Canadian TV on them. We brought TV, DVD/Video, PS2 etc and they're set up in the basement and pretty much used everyday. Just get a transformer. It's our gaming area! My kids watch DVD's (and so do I when I do my ironing and plug my UK iron in the extension) and play the PS2 - plus, we've now got a Wii and that's connected to the same TV. Bring your extension leads with you.
PS2 games bought here don't work though, but you can get them on Amazon and sent to Canada - or get family to post them. That's what I did to get a couple of new games over Christmas.
