Default Private Number Plates.

Ok, I know this is a bit naff, but when my eldest wwas born, I bought a number plate with his name on it in the UK, I intend to leave that on a retention so if he ever decides to move back, then its there for him, but a question please experts, In Canada, what is the procedure for having a private Number plate, How are the numbers/letters arranged, and do they vary from area to area.

More importantly, are private number plates common?

Thanks in anticipation for your advice.

No, they are quite common. it depends on where you live - I know for Ontario there is a restriction as to how many letters you can use, but if it isn't as long as superkalifragilustiexpialdocious, you should be ok.
Bear in mind they are more pricey that your regular plate.
