I saw an article in the paper last week. The bus company has been able to weather the rising fuel costs because so many more people are using the bus.

London Pride is currently discounted to $2.45 a tin (not a lager I know but I don't buy lager). Faxe is advertised at $2 a tin.

We get a lot of cheap lager here these days like 20x440ml cans for a tenner in the supermarkets, although the government are hoping to put an end to it. I have been cutting down recently anyway it's not the kindest on the waistline.:D

I buy the local Maple Dale Cheddar...Extra Old, NOT orange. $6.97 for a half kilo? block at the local no frills and very tasty too. Not all cheddar is orange here by a long way, in fact you usually get the choice if you are buying real cheese, not processed slices.

Its just some beta carotene in the orange stuff anyway. Its naturally occurring to some extent in milk, but the amount varies by season (depending on what the cows eat), so some cheese makers prefer to level the playing field by adding it to get a consistent colour year round. I suppose the general idea was if yellow was good, then orange must be better? Personally I dont think it makes any difference to anything other than the colour.

It varies. Around here (beer is cheaper in QC than in ON), you're probably looking at about $25, including tax, for a 24 x 33cl case of regular lager. You can probably add 50% for imported decent lager, such as Becks.

Pub prices are obviously much higher. On Sunday I paid $7 for a locally brewed Heineken. I don't think it was a pint. Either that or I was very thirsty.

Compared to most of the domestic slop, Becks is nectar. It does, at least, have a taste. I prefer Urquell but it's hard to find and bloody expensive.

That's an expensive pint, although I bought 3 pints of fosters and an Irn bru last week and it was a tenner.

I think it's about normal for Ottawa. On this side of the river it's probably more like $5. I don't go to bars much, so I can't give you an authoritative answer.

Ottawa is a area we are considering along with a couple of others don't fancy having to buy a big round, I take it's not just you souv that doesn't go to bars much at they prices.

That's not the reason I don't go to bars much. The pub culture doesn't really exist, not round here anyway. The bars closest to me are all about 20 minutes walk away and they're grim.
