Hey All,
I've seen lots of posts on here about trying to watch Premiership footy matches while in Canada, I use setanta-i.com and I have to say its brilliant.
It runs over the internet for the same price as an ordinary setanta subscription (so you dont need a cable package with it) and most new tv's can have a laptop hooked up to them to show the matches on the big screen.
But the big difference is that it has a BBC iPlayer style mode, so if a match starts at 7am, you can get up at 10, dont check the news and re run the entire match without knowing anything about the result!
It will be invaluable to me during the world cup!

I don't really see the advantage over a cable/satellite subscription and a PVR or hard drive.

You have to set up a pvr/hard drive to record the match for you, the online setanta just has it, and if you dont want to pay the money for a cable subscription to just get setanta, then you just pay for setanta this way

Thanks for the info. Our local tv provider has been promising to bring Setanta for months and months now but still nothing. I might check this out.

I have setanta usually cancel at the end of the premiership campaign, then subscribe again in September. Saving $60 over the footy break, nothing else really worth watching.
I doubt setanta will be showing world cup matches. Surely it will be available to everyone on a basic channel.
Anyone know if any of the free channels will air the world cup?

Although, after watching my team these past few weeks I might not bother this time!! ( I'm an Arsenal fan...........).
I don't think Setanta will be showing World Cup, I think I saw TSN advertising the games?

I'm the same as you in that I cancel Setanta (scheduled for May 11) when the Premier League ends and I don't start it up until some time in August...during those months there are reruns, Aussie rules footie and loads of rugby I"m not interested in.
I think for the commentators it will be the 'international feed'...Steve Banyard seems to ring a bell....not as jingoistic as the likes of Ian Wright and Sheringham.

Yeah, that's all i need this weekend, watching Spurs finish 3rd!!
Oh well, I'm sure Mr Wenger will buy us a new keeper, CB, DF M/F and a striker than can score and stay fit!! Should be around 50 million pounds??
Actually I was at the Emirates last March for the West Ham game, what an experience!! Went back to the UK for the 1st time in nearly 17 years and managed to score 3 tickets, right next to the WH fans, it was fun!!
I will be near Windsor on a fishing trip on May 20th.

Nope, they are all going to be 'free to air' on CBC. In HD as well.
