Hi all,
I`m due to have my medical examination, for permanent residence, this coming wednesday in Vancouver.
Any tips or hints about what to expect, what to say yes too and what to deny?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards
Dowski

Regular exercise, tee-total, non-smoker - but if anyone has any pointers, then they`d be more than welcome.

Listen carefully in case the doc "tests" your hearing with a sneaky whisper.
Seriously. The guy who did me, suddenly whispered "what's your name" while he was sitting there with my file and several documents showing my name.
Not believing he really asked me that part way through I said "sorry?"
He probably felt a bit daft asking me again, so he didn't "fail" me on deafness.
Oh....if your blood pressure is high-ish at the medical, suggest the blood tests include creatinine.
Mine was a bit up....combination of being kept waiting 90 minutes without apology or explanation
and the whispering thing which added to my irritation.
The Health people at CIC referred me back to him for a creatinine test and it seems (from googling) that he could have anticipated this.
I mention it because I had the blood/urine tests and x-rays all done at the local hospital and their fee was a set amount regardless of what tests were done.
So I went back for one little blood test and I had to pay the whole thing again.

I recall that when we went for our medicals, the Doctor seemed more interested in checking on the inside of our arms - I honestly think she was looking for track-marks or evidence of drug abuse.

I was concerned about my blood pressure - I had a slightly elevated reading about two weeks before when I was in a rush to get to my family Doctor. On the day, the blood pressure was rock steady.

The best thing you can do is be honest. If there is one thing that immigration officials of any nation do not like, it's dishonesty.
If you are as healthy as you say you are, you may be worrying over nothing.

There's a rate mds site where I "reviewed" the guy who did me.
I've just checked it and several people since me have made similar comments - including some who also had immigration medicals.
He doesn't sound a very good choice for CIC to use let alone be an actual doctor.

Oh, and another thing ...
The Doctor said, "I just want to take your temperature by putting my thermometer in your belly button."
Startled, I said, "Doctor, that's not my belly button!"
"no" said the Doctor, "..and that's not my thermometer!"

your right bristol uk we used the guy in moncton and he also didnt enclose our daughters forms which delayed us by about 6 weeks ! the test on our 3 year old was very impressive a 2 second pretend blood pressure check which cost us 250 dollars !!! he didnt look at her other than to do this as she made a fuss about not having anything done !
