Default PR Cards

Hi All

We're finally getting ready to land in Vancouver over the next few months, I looked on the website and it says the PR card is taking up to 80 working days to be received. Just wondering if anyone has a recent timeline for these cards? I'm also hoping we don't have to sign for delivery as I am using a friends address.

Thanks everyone!

I landed in Toronto on 31st May, 45 days ago, and still not received them. I've heard of people waiting up to 180 days at the moment. I also have given a friends address and am now back in the UK. You don't have to personally sign for them, the guy at immigration advised us against having them delivered to a friends address "Are you sure you can trust them?" he kept saying. Then "Whatever you don't let them send the cards international mail" Apparently Canadian mail is terrible. Once they arrive my friends will fedex them along with our SIN cards.

I don't recommend applying for your SIN by mail, good chance of your card getting lost. Better to do it in person when you get here. Plus CRA isn't aware that you exist until your SIN is issued.

Thanks everyone!

We landed in Calgary begining of June ( but don't plan on moving permanently until October), our PR cards were sent to our imigration consultants ( willis brazalot ) in Quebec and forwarded on to us back in the UK by post and arrived yesterday ( so took about 6 weeks in all ) We also applied for our SIN cards in June and they arrived here in the UK 2 weeks later! No special delivery, just normal postal sevice for both!
Good Luck!

Dont you have to apply for your SIN card in person at a service canada office anyway?

Either way they will mail the actual card to you regardless of how you apply, so the chances of it going missing are pretty much the same, and l suspect far less likely to happen than a "good chance" I suspect. Canada Post aint perfect, but its not that bad either!

Hi when we landed in Vancouver 8 weeks ago we were told at immigration we would automatically receive our PR cards in 2 weeks (we gave them an address) they actually arrived last week 'Week 7'. Nice to have them now though, no signature required.
