I applied for PR Canada at Buffalo under skilled worker category in May. Obviously, haven't got anything back yet. I am from Eastern Europe, now working in the US on H1B.
Now my boyfriend who is a Canadian permanent resident has finally proposed and we are planning to get married soon.
What should I do? Apply for a family sponsored immigration? Is there going to be a conflict with my application? Can I live in Canada with him and in which status?
Please advise. I have studied the subject of skilled worker immigration pretty thoroughly, but this is a complete different turn now...

If you only applied in May 2002 and plan on getting married in the
next 6 months , you may wish to withdraw your application and have
Family class aplication filed as son as you are married. Everything is
a matter of f timing. Right now Buffalo is bogged down and there is no
guarentee way of telling form your info that your aplpication as a
skilled worker will be accepted and when. My recommendation is to take
the surest and safest route after you are married.

I have the same case as yours. we both applied last year, aug. 2001 but unfortunately they didn't release my boyfriend's visa and i'm here alone in canada. and now we're getting married next year so we decided to withdraw the application and file sponsorship then, period. it just really a matter of smart decision...good luck!
