Hi can anyone advise on the car situation out there. I have not got spares funds for car was thinking of leasing one. Is this common practise and do Canadian companies give lease finance to people of twp who are intending to get perm residency? I am hopefully transferring from UK to work for same company in yyz. So can prove employment. Thanks in advance.

Yes you will be able to lease but the terms will be set by the dealer as there are numerous leasing options available.

In addition with what poster 2 said - consider the following option over leasing a brand new vehicle that locks you in for 36-48 months without all of those added surcharges.
Its where you can take over someone else lease (all legit) it has many benefits since you will likely pay less for a shorter duration

This is the first time I've used a forum. Thanks for the quick responses I'll check all those options out. My wife is looking at homes in oakville, Burlington, Milton, orangeville and Bolton so think would need a car as I will be based at the airport. Doing shift work. We are coming over for a week recce in October would you think its worth checking out some vehicles and lease agreements for a couple of hours? Another think does the insurance depend on engine size of vehicle like in uk and can you carry over your no claims bonus? Thanks guys.

Good luck with the move, what job will you be doing at the airport? I'm intrigued by the mention of shifts and how that would fit with an intra-company transfer TWP!

Many different factors can affect whether it's better to lease or buy. Here are some articles that should be of interest (you can easily find others):

Does taking over someone else's lease need credit history? When we come over on a twp (Ontario PNP, waiting for PR) we wont have a credit history and I'm unsure if you can take on a lease without this? Would a big(ish) down payment help with that?

I expect a big deposit would help

In the past posters have reported having no luck with lease take overs for exactly that reason. It's a shame as the arrangement is otherwise ideal, reasonable cost and avoidance of a long term commitment to a vehicle that may not turn out to be as suitable as it first appeared.
