My wife and I both have jobs that would attract Provincial nominee status, and we have a question for the forum.

If we accept job(s) and travel to Canada on work permits having sold up and moved our kids and everything else, applied for PR status with PNP, (we have been told we will be a shoo in for PNP) what are the chances that our PR status being denied?

Obviously our security and medical status would need to be fine before WP would be issued, but if we have to apply in London (UK), what happens if an interview is required???

My wife is just a little worried that if we go over on WP's and then PR is refused, we have to then come back here and try and get back into the housing market etc...

Anyone been there, seen it, done it?

I thought that when you were accepted for PNP you had to pass all the immigration critera and you also applied for PR at the same time. I thought PNP ment you were restricted to live in the Province you applied to. You first have to be accepted by the province to apply to...I think you also must apply for PR at the same time.

With PNP timelines much quicker it may be worth just waiting for the PR visa to come through. Some provinces can give nomination in three months or so, and if you have your CIC forms ready to go them, with a simple background and medical check, you may get the PR visas within another 6 months, so it may be much quicker. If medicals and security are complex then it may drag out the case, however, so it depends how many countries you lived and worked in.

As we have only lived and worked in the UK, my wife is an ex police officer, Security is not too much of an issue.

We are all in good health, so hopefully no medical issues.

Hi liftman, i know all cases are different, i received AOR from PNP on June 17th 03, and received passports back with visa`s attached on the 20th March 04. A little over 9 months from start to finish.
I had an application in for a work permit last year, gave up waiting and applied for PNP. The problem with applying for a work permit is that HRDC will not even acknowledge you, and will only deal with the employer, it`s very frustrating, and with a work permit being for a specific time and employer you are making a huge move with no guarantee that you will be allowed to stay on after the work permit expires.

Hi, my wife and I are looking at the PNP (economic) for Nova Scotia at the moment. As it has been explained to me by the administrator of the program, I apply to the province, have an interview and are then told yes or no (1-3 months). If yes we then forward the nomination along with the general "federal" forms (health/security etc.) and go through that process but without any points scoring, with a bit of luck I'm told 6 months. If everything is OK, we're in !!! Be aware each province has different programs and rules !!!

We are in the early stages and would welcome any comments or feedback on this particular program. John.

We were told pretty much the same, except that we are applying as skilled workers, so one of us gets a job, that would give us an immediate work pemit, sponsorship to the PNP and then onwards as you described. BUT we would already be there!
