Default PNP

Hi

Gosh all this research has taken over my life at the moment and I still cant find the answers to my questions!!

We have been quoted 3 years if we go down the skilled worker route but everytime I read something it says 5 years does anybody know what the time is??

If it is gonna be 5 years then we are going to have to find a quicker route I think as my eldest is 18 now!!

anyway my question if anybody can help is how do we find an employer who is going to go down the PNP route for us. Should I be joining an agency to find work? Hubby is a carpenter by the way.

Been on the job websites and there are plenty of vacancies for carpenters but how on earth am I supposed to know if they can do PNP for us TWP is no good as eldest son is an apprentice carpenter and if we came over on TWP he wouldnt be able to work so this is a def no go. We would prefer to be in Ontario but BC would be ok too. Am waiting til youngest finishes GCSE so we were hoping to move over in Summer 2010.
Have been on the WIKI but this doesnt really enable me to find out how to apply the PNP route as I dont know how to find an employer who will go down the PNP route. Pelase help!!

You'll need to be proactive and find an employer willing to go down the PNP route for you - they're unlikely to advertise the fact that they're happy to recruit from overseas. In fact you may have to educate them to the whole possibility of recruiting your husband through that route.

If you're not looking to get here for another 12mths, then approaching potential employers now may be a little too soon. I've 2 friends that moved to BC as carpenters via the PNP process, and it took them under 4mths to get a job offer and move over here. The construction industry is very fluid - I doubt you'll find an employer willing to wait 12mths for your availability, unless you've very specialised skills.

First off you need to educate yourself about the PNP in Ontario and BC. There is a good chance that potential employers will not know about the PNP so you should be in a position to tell them exactly how easy it is.

Then all the other job hunting techniques in the wiki are still relevant. No doubt you will come up against the response, "I'd love to offer you a job if you were in Canada and legally able to work". Then you will be able to say, "Ah, but for a little simple paperwork, that I can help you complete, I can be on site and earning both of us money in a matter of weeks."

Or, alternately, wot R I C H said.

Hi there,

I will just add that the employer does not put you through the PNP process, you do. You need to get an employer who is willing to go through the process of getting a positive labor market opinion, with this you can get a temp work visa for that specific company. Once here you apply through the PNP programme. If the employer filled out the forms, which he would have had to do for +LMO then thats the only form he will need to fill out, the rest my friend is down to you. Make sure you bring lots of past paper work over with you, references from your employers since 18 years of age etc, bank statements and school certificates or any other certificates you have got.

You do need to revise the specific PNP programme for where you want to move to though, but remember, you go through it not the employer, once you have a job offer and temp work visa you are in the country but staying here involves alot of paper work.

TTFN

Not necessarily the case in BC where it is a combined employer + employee process. There is no need for an LMO. The BC PNP applies to occupations the BC Government specifies.
