Hi there!

Could anyone please tell me what the requirements are to work as a plumber in NS?

Thanks!

Looks as though, from following the links in that article, plumbing is a compulsory certified trade in NS. So you'd need to get your Red Seal to work there.

there are a fewl Brit plumbers here none of which have taken any canadian quallys and all earn a nice living

you will find in rural areas nobody is bothered about quallys so long as you can fix stuff thats all anybody cares about
no rip offs though and always a fair price for a job well done

if you are thinking of setting up on your own dont be put off the reality is very different from all the hoops folk would have you jump through to practice any trade here
good luck

Thanks! That sounds a bit more promising, but the problem my husband has is that the employer he had at the time he was doing his apprenticeship said he was to busy for my husband to attend college, so therefore he has now only got 1 years college certificates but does have 14+ years of work experience as he has been working as a plumber ever since.
I think to be honest we are facing a bit of a brick wall!!!

have you considered the NS community ideitified it would be a breeze for you and you dont need a job offer or anything more than one year of college at any level in any subjuect

in our community there are 4 brit families all of us are community identified and for all it was very straight forward and rapid although im still waiting for my med requests 7 weeks from applying to chc:curse:

it seems the very quickest route of all at the moment

that sounds like a great option, but don't you have to have some 'ties' with NS to qualify? how would we go about starting the process as we have already submitted the simplified application for SW but now it looks as though we dont have enough points to qualify (we originally thought my husband had a full apprenticeship, how dumb are we haha!!)
We originally thought about BC and we visited there at the end of the summer last year, it was a stunning place! but since our visit we have had a change of heart, and although we have never visited NS we feel it would suit us better as we are from a small village in scotland and we felt BC was a bit too large!

we had never set foot in NS!
we came with 2 bags and 2 dogs last April
and we have never regretted a second of it and never been happier anyhwere!
ties were very easy to establish we just immersed oursleves from day one doing loads of volunteer work joining the fire department working for the legion and loads of other community organisations
you need enough funds to supprt yourlseves for up to a year
but because of the unbelievable low cost of property and cost of living we have lived well on on £500 a month for the last 10 months now just waiting very impatiently for med requests
