Dear all,
We(me and my wife) are permanent resident of Canada.
We are now staying in Japan for my wife's Ph.D study.
She will be finshing her degree in September'2003.
Then we will again return to Canada.
Recently our baby has born in Japan. So obviously we shall
return with our baby to Canada from Japan. So do I need to
maintain any kind of formalities (i.e. to take my child with us
to Canada) for the immigration purpose?
Please reply me.
Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
B.K.Sarker

It is not that simple - you cannot just take baby back to Canada as such baby is
not a Canadian PR. Baby must be sponsored, but in order to be able to sponsor baby
you must reside permanently in Canada first - so, as long as you are in Japan you
can do nothing.

since you are not a canadian citizen, you cant just take your baby back. the baby is not a pr, so must be sponsored by you.
for that you have to go back to canada first without your baby, pr's cant sponsor anyone while they are not in canada.
you should have found out what the rules are before your wife gave birth, you have successfully created a headache for yourself by the baby being born in japan.
the only small hole you may have around not being able to take your baby back would be if the baby is a japanese citizen. then you could bring the baby back as a visitor, and initiate sponsorship from within canada.

What passport will your child be travelling on. If it is a Japanese passport you
should have no problems returning to Cda with a child but if it is not you may have a
problem if the passport is form a non visa exempt country.
My expereince is that CIC is very flexible once you and the child arrive at a POE but
you have to get there. More info is needed.

Thank you for your answer.
The baby is not a Japanese citizen and we are bangladeshi citizen. We understand that I can not sponsor him as we are residing outside Canada.
So we want to take him as a visitor with us to Canada. Then we will start for processing of sponsorship for him. We have no other way than this, because the baby will be only 1 year old at that time when we go back to Canada. So whereever we go, we have to take our baby with us.
Is it possible? Will the baby get the visitor visa or not?
Thank you in advance.
with best regards
