Firstly like to say this is a great site with loads of info and nice peeps. I am a 36yr old recently married UK citizen and want to emigrate to Canada under the FSW as I qualify for the Computer and info sys manager job category. My wife a UK citizen too is also a senior software engineer with a multinational company begining with 'A' that uses tiger woods as their campaign face.
One issue I have is that I have a caution from over 7yrs ago for "attempting to obtain goods by deception" using another persons debit card. This is more to do with naive stupidity than criminality and have since stayed away from anything remotely resembling trouble. Also I have been to canada earlier this year from florida for 2 days not realising that my caution would have made me inadmissible. Nobody asked anything they just welcomed me. Further more I have been to the US almost 20 times in the last 10 years also not realising/knowing my caution might mean am barred. I alway tick no as I hot moral turpitude had to do with drugs, murder etc.
Questions
1. Where do I start from? I live in London but have seen people sending forms to Canada first for approval?
2. Do I have to do criminal rehab before I hand in application or both at the same time?
Pls any help and advice will be appreciated. Thanks

After five years Canada considers you rehabilitated as per:-
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/informa...ns/rehabil.asp
You do require to report full details of your peccadillo on the application.

Thanks. Do I apply for that and wait for reply first before submitting application?

An option to explore would be to see if your wife, with that company beginning with A (I'm assuming it's not Gillette) can transfer her to a Canadian office on an inter-company transfer. Would cut out most of the hassles.

We are looking at that avenue too, but for it to work she needs to find a role in Canada which matches her skills and also interview for it internally. So its still the same issue of Canadians first.
I heard criminal rehab takes a year, so I have to wait one year to apply? Sounds crazy.

I know a couple of people who used to work in their Vancouver office, very long hours from what I hear, although I expect thats no change to where you are now.....

The was the company works you still hve to find a role with one of their client that matches your skills and can't be filled locally, and they have done quite a bit of laying off in the UK and worldwide recently so roles are not easy to come by even in Canada.
