please help!!

hi guy's,

Sorry if this thread has already been started.

We have completed our express entry profile and now we just need to secure a job offer to give us more points in the hope of being ITA.

With a LMIA how much hard work is it for a company to get one, cost etc?

How can we convince a construction company that my partner will be a good investment?

Does it have to be the main applicant that get's the job offer or can either of us have one?

After you get a ITA what sort of documents will you need? want to get them all ready so that we are ready to go when we get an ITA.

A few emails have been sent to companies looking for workers but as of yet not had any replies.

Would really appreciate your help.

Thanks everyone.

How many points do you have without an LMIA? You'll need the LMIA (not just a job offer) for the extra 600 pts.

The application fee for the company is 1000$. It's very hard work to prepare the application/meet the requirements. Many companies won't bother. Hire a temporary foreign worker | ESDC

You don't really, I'd say you're looking at the question from the wrong angle. The company has to convince esdc that they are unable to find a CDN citizen or PR to fill a vacancy.

f you mean job offer backed with an LMIA : main applicant. If the dependant (secondary) applicant gets an LMIA, then s/he can submit an EE application with the other as dependant.

There's a lot of easily available detail on the CIC website, & on BE (including a specific Express Entry thread) concerning required documents. I'm a grumpy old b**ch, so I'm not going to google for you .

Theres a very useful Wiki here on BE which might help you understand why you aren't receiving responses to emails about jobs from Canadian companies

Would really appreciate your help.

Thanks everyone.

To get more feedback I would add a question as to what skill or job role your partner performs that could be a good investment for a Canadian company and have you checked out the NOC code for the job role/duties . http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/noc.asp Also any particular province ? As shirtback implies getting any company to sponsor via LMIA is a major challenge plus companies usually want face to face contact to even start anything worthwhile given as you can imagine there are a lot of speculative enquiries out there and most companies cannot be bothered unless someone is already onshore with a visa.

Bricklayer (self employed I believe).

@ng4379

I would do some research on where bricklayers are in demand - Ontario, for instance, has quite a lot of brick built houses etc., whereas other provinces may not have.

There are only 4 Provinces with jobs advertised for bricklayers - Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia - only 50 jobs in total over the whole of Canada. I think it's going to be tough to find a company willing and able to apply for an LMIA for you, unfortunately.

Have you considered trying for a Provincial Nomination instead, to get your extra points? How many do you have presently?

Determine your eligibility – Provincial nominees

The suggestion you were given in one of your other threads to apply for a working holiday visa (IEC) was an excellent one as it would enable you to get a 2 year open work permit - which could give you extra points for Canadian Experience and also potentially allow you to apply through one of the Provincial programs for Permanent Residency.

There's still time to apply, though the places are going very fast.

Thank you for your replies.

We were looking at Alberta, there is a few bricklaying positions there but without an LMIA or open work permit we are struggling.

We did think about applying for a working holiday visa but we were worried about only one of us being granted one, we wanted to go through a process where we can both be on an application and I don't think this is the case with a working holiday visa is it?

Our dream of settling in Canada just seems to be getting further and further away.

Thank you :-)

You are very welcome!

You could both apply for the IEC - but if only one of you got it you could still both come over, one of you as a visitor. Presuming whoever has the IEC work permit then managed to find a skilled job, the other one could apply for an open work permit 'on the back' of the skilled work position (a copy of the job offer and contract would be needed).

Can my spouse or common-law partner work in Canada?

:)
