Can anyone share the info, please:
I wanted to post this message to clarify some questions about my application for Permanent Residency in Canada – Skilled Worker Category. Your responses will be greatly appreciated.
Although I have an idea of the different steps involved in obtaining the Permanent Residency, I am still very confused about the time frame for each step and the order in which these are carried. Some details related to my application are as below:
· Nationality: India
· Current Residency: USA
· Current Status in the USA: Student (F1)
· Date AOR was received: Nov 7, 2001 and currently waiting to hear the assessment from the consulate.
Can you please advice me on the next steps and approximate time for each of these? I truly appreciate everybody's time and feedback.
Sincerely,
Vikrant Khosla

You should expect the assessment notice any day now - it will tell you if the
interview is required or not. If interview is waived then you'll have to undergo
medicals and your visa should be issued 3 to 6+ months after medicals, providing that
all other tasks (particularly background/security check) are completed. If interview
is required then your file will be transferred to LA, NY, Detroit or Seattle about 2
- 3 months later for the interview. Once your file lands in one of those consulates
you will wait about 8 to 12+ months for the interview date and in such case you must
wait with medicals until 1- 2 months prior to interview date. With interview required
you should expect total processing time anywhere from 24 to 36 months (since the
application date).
