Hi, I'm getting the thrill of winter entering my bones . . . although the british winter is a lie. Overcast and rain for 5 months. . . what is winter like in Canada? I miss the sunny days that are freezing, frost and snow, inch thick ice (its not like when I was a kid). I am an avid snowboarder - but only been europe.
I guess I'd be after somewhere near/in the mountains but not too expensive? And if possible somewhere with lovely warm summers too . . . I don't know if it's all a dream? But any advice would be wonderful, my daughter is 1 year old 2 weeks today and I hate the idea of watching her grow up spending all winter on the xbox...
Thanks
Oh - work wouldn't be a problem (freelance online so I can go anywhere that there's a speedy internet connection).

How about the Okanagan? There you get your warm summers!
I like Revelstoke as well and I'm sure there are people on here who have settled in Golden, etc. Fernie was nice too.
All of these places have ski hills near them but you need to check out the property prices and see where you can afford. AlexinBC lives way up country and it's much cheaper there.....
PS Out of personal interest, what job is that mobile? I'd love a freelance internet job...spend all my time glued a computer anyway!

lol, i know that feeling. I'm a freelance graphic designer (just in first year of business) but I'm learning everyday!
What do you do?
I will have a research on the places you suggested - to be honest I've been wanting to move to australia for years . . . but it gets winter and I miss the winter I remember . . . and there's no way I'd get that in australia!
How do you go about getting a visa for canada out of interest? Wouldn't have a clue if I'd be able to get one lol.

There is the BE Wiki on immigration and then there is www.cic.gc.ca where all will be revealed.
Have a read and then come back as you will need to discuss!
How about TAS - you get snow there and it's lovely if you really want to go to Oz.

This area (Tete Jaune Cache and Valemount) has everything you've mentioned. Summers are baking and the Winters are proper Winters - snowy and cold, but plenty of sunshine and lots of Winter sports. We're only an hour's drive from Jasper and property prices are reasonable but rising rapidly. We have high speed wireless internet out here (Tete Jaune) and Valemount is served by Telus' broadband. If you want any more info please don't hesitate to ask. People here in Tete Jaune are unbelievably friendly. Over last weekend (Thanksgiving) we ate out at different friends/neighbours for three evenings in a row! (I'm definitely in no hurry to see a roast turkey again
) We moved out here in Nov '05 and haven't regretted it for a second
Alex
