Hi,

Anyone know how long it takes for the photo driving licence to come through after the UK>Canada exchange? We traded ours 5 weeks ago tomorrow and still only have the temporary paper copy they gave us on the day. Is it worth chasing them down or is that turnaround pretty normal?

Which province are you in? Remember it is a GB->Province Exchange, not UK->Canada.

Pretty sure ours didn't take that long. Does it not say on the paper one how long it's valid for?

Mine took about 5 weeks (Ontario). It might be worth popping into a service Ontario office if there's one near you (assuming you're in this province) - though the paper thingy is valid for quite a while...

OP landed in Toronto and is renting there I believe?

So as Collie mentioned, the temp paper should be good enough till plastic arrives, even if stopped by cops

Thanks for the responses, I am in Toronto.

I'm keen to receive it as I need to provide the photo ID to a car dealer, in order for them to finalize the deal. I have the car but they're pestering me for a copy of the licence, seems the finance isn't being released to them until they see it. I have the paper copy and that's good for the cops and insurance but 5 weeks on I thought I might have the photo ID.

I'll check with Service Canada.
