Just wanted to share my experiences dealing with Air Transat when traveling to the UK from Canada with our pets
We booked a direct flight with them two months before our flight to lessen the stress on our dog and cat and just three days before the flight they changed it to a stopover in London adding 3 hours onto our flight to Manchester.
It took nearly four days of being transferred from one number to the next before we actually got hold of someone who could deal with us on the issue only to be told in a snotty manner that they don’t consider animals when rescheduling flights.
They could have done some sort of due diligence and sent the plane to its intended destination first Manchester as our two pets where the only animals on board. But they don’t consider animals at all.
If they put that on the website we would have never booked with them.
Avoid if you plan to travel with pets

When rescheduling flights airlines don't give a monkeys about the 300 people who are booked on it, so I doubt if a couple of dogs in the hold is going to give them pause for thought.
Edit: I should have said "paws" for thought. Ha ha!

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience, I just wanted to mention that my dog flew over with air transat in 2005 and they were brilliant, they gave her plenty of water and checked on her regularly. Maybe you were just unfortunate....or I was very lucky?!

I would not worry, the transport of pets is done in accordance with rules and regulation set out by that countries relevant animal authorities, things such as stop overs will be dealt with in accordance with those rules.
I remember seeing one of the airport programs and the on-site vet visiting aircraft to check pets on stop overs. He had authority to get animals removed and out of their crates if he felt it was required.

We arrived back in manchester yesterday only to be told our dog was DEAD. We had to use Ladyhaye with air transat and once arrived they took Max out of his create after spending 18 hours in it and walked him outside the building onto a car park where he slipped his lead and was chased frighted onto a nearby motorway. I am numb my family is devastated

Omg that's awful. I'm so sorry for your loss, I'm surprised they let the animal out tho, our dog was trapped for 23 hours because of a paperwork cock up and they were not allowed to even let him out for a wee!
Deffo check into this and get clarification because this was avoidable!

If true, I'm really sorry.
However, something about the dates you've mentioned doesnt add up.

I think they mean "three days before flight" and it took "four days of phoning" so if they flew yesterday, means they only sorted it out today

We once had a horrendous experience with Air Transat also. Now we use a company called Airpaws who, I have to say, are the nicest bunch. Much more humane experience.

I flew 3 dogs and a cat on Air Transat from Dublin-Toronto last month. Great experience and the animals arrived happy and relaxed!
