Default Peterborough Ontario

Hi there, just wondering if there are any ex pats recently or previously moved to this area, we are new here ourselves and like the kawartha lakes district although we haven't experienced a winter yet, any advice or pointers would be good.
Maybe meet for a coffee and chat.

Hi Dean & Ruth, we are still in the UK but hope to be in Canada early next year, we are looking at the Lindsey/Peterborough area, how are you finding it? can you give me a run down on the area, facilities, shopping, housing etc.
Thanks
Sally

Wow peterborough, my first trip to canada was there in January 1990. It was minus 30c and deep deep snow...absolutely fabulous........skidooing the trails. Sadly my new missus is from vancouver (drizzle drizzle) and so we have to move there (now if I had my way......

Hi The Wortleys
Well behind you in the emmigration move still in the early stages when everything is mind bogoling noticed at bottom of your post various dates and times was wandering if you achieved your dream move through working through the visa minefield by DIY or did you pay a relocation company for there services find these expensive and was wandering if it is reasonable to try the visa process yourself.
thanks for any help you could give.

Hi The Neil`s, yes we used an immigration lawyer based in Toronto, is was fairly pricey but we decided to use one for peace of mind as I know of previous people who had applied and it took them longer purely because they did not send all the info needed, with the lawyer he checks all application forms and makes sure all the T are crossed and all the I dotted!! He also puts a letter together with your application if you dont quite reach the points necessary. Hope that helps.

We like the area , mainly because we spent a lot of time on holiday here, I think you have the best of both worlds , lakes and countryside on the one hand and not far from Toronto, with some nice surroundings.
Lindsay I do not think has the amenities that Peterborough has but it depends what you are looking for.

I have yet to experience the winter although the last one left snow on the ground for when I first arrived, apparently the most snow for 40 years
My Canadian friends just laugh when I ask about the winter:-)

I arrived in Bath near Kingston on Monday!! If you ever come over this way, it would be great to meet up for a coffee!! Not sure on the etiquette of BE as I am a new user (about 10 minutes!!). I don't have transport yet but hope to very soon ans I am on my own for a few months so another "newbie" to have a chat with would be ace!
