Default Personal Income Tax...help!...

Hi

We emigrate to Vancouver from England in June, at the present time as well as working I am a director of a sole trader company in the UK which we own which receives royalties for arborist tools that get sold throughout the world (not Canada yet though unfortunately!)

We by no means get a fortune but this will continue when we live in Canada, should I set up a company in Canada and get the payments sent there? Tax wise would this be best? or would an off-shore account be an option?my husband will be working self employed (hopefully) as an arborist when we arrive is it best to 'bundle' all this together, I have been trying to call the inland revenue in the UK for the past few days for advise but just get put on hold for ages.

or can anyone recommend tax advisor on the nrthwest who may be able to help?

I have an appointment with our Business Advisor at HSBC soon to ask his advise but wanted to go armed with some info as have had negative experience with them recently

Any advise appreciated

There are several options, but first we need to clarify the legal structure through which you are operating. Only companies have directors and a sole trader is not a company. Are the rights owned by a limited liability company?
