Default Permanent Resdents - please answer this

Can a permanent resident of Canada with US 10 year multiple entry B1/B2 visa travel to America every weekend or so?

Permanent Residents of Canada (not Canadian citizens)

Your Canadian status is irrelevant, only your US Visa is relevant for visiting the US.

Just make sure that you don't breach your residency requirement for Canada, if you visit the US often, or you will lose your Permanent Resident status. What you describe probably won't matter, but if you add on holidays and other trips it may add up. I think the current rule is that you need to be in Canada for two years out of every five year period.

Thanks for your reply.

Say a person settled in Vancouver travelling to Seattle every weekend.

Will US authorities allow frequent trips to America almost every weekend or so.

Maybe, or maybe not.

You may become somewhat suspicious doing it on such a regular basis. It may be prudent to go see US Immigration at the border to explain why you`re doing it so often.

They might, depending on your reason for making so many trips. If they think you might try to remain in the US on one of these trips, they might not. If there's an American love interest as a silent partner in your questions, that will complicate the answer.

They are pretty used to people crossing frequently, its not something unusual.

Some Canadians gets mail in the US with magazines and other services not available in Canada and make weekly post office trips.

My old neighbor was a PR from China and made weekly trips for gas last summer since the exchange rate was good, and gas was cheaper on the other side, and we were less then 5 minutes from the border crossing.

Some agents might be pricks, but nothing you can do about that.
