Hi Peeps
Hope you are all ahving a wonderful day.
I need some Info on IT stuff.
First of all Number one daughter is talking of not returning to school this year to complete her A level Studies as she reckons she could learn as much signing up to some of the IT trades and getting certification. Is this True? if so what would the best Certification to go for? is there much demand in Canada for IT ( mainly Calgary area as this is where we hope to settle).
all help is really appreciated on this matter!!!! maybe i should lock her up in a cupboard until she changes her mid back to A level study

Has she been watching too many Computeach adverts? Certifications might get you a foot in the door IF you have the experience to back them up - without experience, they are worthless. When will you be heading over? It would make most sense for her to complete her A levels and then carry on to an IT related degree. Degree's are even more expected in Canada than they are here I believe (as almost everyone will have one).
There's a small market for IT in Calgary, it's better in Toronto or Ottawa.... Realistically, she'll be wanting to head for the US eventually if she wants a glittering IT career.... Though that's not to say there isn't IT jobs, just not as plentiful.
If I rewound 15 years to be back in her position, would I still head for IT if I knew what know now.... probably not, but then I'm not sure what I'd do instead....
