Default paying for passport without credit card

what options are available to pay for a passport other than credit card?

i believe some debit cards are accepted.

i have a Royal Bank debit card with interac but unsure if this is accepted.

i tried to get this info from 4 different consulars and couldn't get past the automated phone service and speak with an actual person

thanks

the link is for a canadian passport.

i assumed posters would know i was applying for a british passport since we are on a british expat site. apologies for not being clearer.

canada accepts interac but i'd like to know if the UK accepts canadain interac debit cards.

canada also accepts prepaid visa cards but i am unsure if such cards can be used internationally or online.
previously i tried to pay for an airline ticket online with a US airline from canada and was unable to do so.

You are in the Canadian forum for expats, so one assumes a Canadian passport.

Which bank are you with ? I have a Visa debit card (RBC) that i used to renew my UK passport. It doesnt work at ATMs or swipe machines its just for online etc and worked great for me.
It doesnt have a magnetic strip or chip or anything, you just punch in the card number and the 3 digit number on the back and away you go. I use it lots.
Ah i should add i renewed mine in Ottawa so that idea may not work now ?
I know my Visa debit works in the USA so possibly will in the UK ?

http://www.rbcroyalbank.com/services...8AC4E55C536EBA

Duh i see now your with RBC apply for a Virtual Visa Debit !!!

A smart and safe way to pay for online purchases - RBC Royal Bank
i have a Royal Bank debit card attached to my savings account but its not a RBC Visa debit card, pretty sure mine can't be used online internationally.

RBC are telling me that a Visa prepaid card can be used internationally; however, i'm unsure if the UK government will accept it.

If you have a normal RBC debit then you should be able to get a Virtual Visa Debit, call the number on the link they'll tell you straight away if you can !
It'll come in handy again, i use mine all the time as its backed up by visa and i'm protected from fraud too. CALL THEM !

i was living in Nicaragua for a year.
While there, my credit card number was hijacked and used extensively in New England. I refused to pay Visa for charges I didn't make so i'm not sure they just might tit for tat me and refuse me a Virtual Visa card

(btw for those travelling in Nicaragua, i only ever used my credit card for a cash advance at one National bank and at the same branch each time. be careful)

No "we" don't. I assumed the poster was emigrating TO Canada and thus a British passport. Which is a lot more sensible. You just don't want to admit you guessed wrong.

I have one of those Visa debit cards from Royal Bank of Canada too. It's hit and miss if it will work or not. Some card processors will accept it and others won't. Not clear on what the issue is but my biggest peeve with it is if it doesn't work, the payment is stuck in pending for up to three weeks till the money is returned to you.

Another option is to ask a friend to pay it for you and just give them the cash.

You obviously have a high opinion of yourself, being 'more sensible', albeit challenged in comprehension. I did not state 'we', I stated 'one', I would have no idea what you presumed. I assumed the writer was in Canada. Without them stating what they want to know clearly, we can only guess, it could have been any passport for that matter, there are plenty of posters on here not from Britain or in Canada.
