Default parking in penticton

Hi all, We are coming over for a reccie in July. Now then, we are hiring an RV (6 of us!!!! mum, dad, 4 kids) and we are staying over at Sun Sands RV Park and then up to Silver Star, Vernon. We would like to have a day at Penticton - beach - waterslides etc. will we be able to park a 29/30ft RV OK for the day in Penticton?? will day parking accommodate a large vehicle or will we be better to have a mini stop over in Penticton perhaps for one night to see this area.
Thank you in advance, we have had some wonderful advice from this site.

Most of the public parking areas in Penticton will accommodate your RV perfectly well. It's not an unusually long vehicle.

The Okanagan's a popular tourist destination. It won't just be Penticton that's potentially busy. I wouldn't worry about it, even with the increased traffic that summer brings you'll find somewhere to park up.

You'll be fine! Even if it is pretty busy and you drive around twice, it's not that big a place and there are lots of car parks. You might need to walk a block or two back down to the beach, but that shouldn't be too difficult. The water slide thingies are good fun, the parasailing was a laugh and the jet skis are also a blast (Can you tell we did the whole tourist bit ) but you might want to book your slot if it's hot and sunny and teaming with people.

Hi there,

We actually live in Penticton. We moved out here 18 months ago and absolutely love it. If all else fails you will find that lots of people park in walmart carpark overnight if they cannot get in anywhere else. We have a 30ft RV and have never had any problems getting around town or parking it around town. There are also hundreds of smaller lakes with campgrounds that are free, the only problem is ground clearance on the RV as the smaller lakes are mainly offroad but well worth visiting.

There's a great campground at Skaha Lake, and the area in general is well worth staying a night or two. But as other posters said, you should be OK to park even if you have to drive around a bit. I love Penticton, it's a lovely town with great shopping, but I'm more often there in winter/spring for hockey tournaments.
